The 16 problems of the fifth Arabic book. The first six combine the square of a square with multiples of a cube or of the cube of a cube, and are solved by finding three squares whose differences are in a given ratio (II.19) or by identities of the type “a square plus five fourths of itself is a square”. Six problems on sums and differences of cubes with their conditions of possibility follow (V.7 and V.8 reappear, without the condition, as Greek IV.1 and IV.2), and four on a cube which, with two numbers, forms two other cubes.

The solutions follow the assignments, equations and results of the text according to the translation and commentary of Christianidis and Oaks (2023), written in our own words. Sesiano’s numbering.
